DUNDEE, NY – For Immediate Release – November 21st, 2015 – Curtis Berleue photo –
The weather in the Finger Lakes and Southern Tier has been unseasonably warm and has given first-year promoter Mike Jackson the perfect opportunity to try a late November special at the ‘Fast Four-Tenths-Mile’.
Saturday November 28th will bring the first ever running of the ‘Turkey Bowl’ at Black Rock Speedway. Five stout divisions will be on tap including the Open/Crate Sportsman, 305 Sprint Cars, Street Stocks, IMCA/EModifieds and Rear Wheel Drive/Front Wheel Drive 4 Cylinders.
Drivers are encouraged to bring their home track rulebook with them, however each division is allowed to run sail panels and sprint car wings as well as an open tire rule for each class.
The Sportsman division will see Open Sportsman face off against the Crate Sportsman in a challenge race that will go 50 laps in distance. The winner will walk away with $1,200, with the first Crate legal car taking home a $200 bonus. Crate Sportsman drivers should be fully prepared to go through normal tech procedures. This 50-lapper will also pay $100 to take the green flag.
Additional rules for the Sportsman division include any engine under 360c.i., both car classifications must run on a 2 barrel, no roller cams, no aluminum heads, no gear rule and no rev chip rule. Open Sportsman will have to weigh 2,450lbs while the Crate Sportsman will be required to weigh 2,400lbs. Any tire and any wheel may be used, sail panels and sprint car wings are legal for body panels.
305 Sprint Cars will also be on hand to race in a 20-lap feature paying $500 to win and $100 to take the green flag. This division will follow normal 305 Sprint rules from Canandaigua Motorsports Park, however there is an open tire rule for this special event. Drivers are open to run any sprint car tire available or even a dirt modified tire if it fits their fancy!
IMCA/EMods will also be on hand for the Turkey Bowl, racing in a $600 to win event paying $50 to take the green flag. The tire rules are opened up to any tire and the body rules have been opened up to sail panels and sprint car wings.
Fans can plan to see some pretty ‘out of the box’ ideas across several divisions for this ‘Run What Ya Brung’ style event with open tire and body panel rules. There is no weight rule for the IMCA division.
The growing Street Stock division will be racing in a 30-lap $600 to win event paying $50 to take the green flag. The tire and body rules are opened up for this special event, but drivers are reminded that all other rules are per their home track rulebook. Drivers are encouraged to bring their home track rules to this event.
Other rule specifications for the Street Stocks include any engine under 415c.i., any tubed chassis, quick change rear ends are ok however the trailing arm MUST be in stock location (no rear steer cars). Sprint Car wings and sail panels are allowed, there is no tire rule and there is no weight limit.
The 4 Cylinders will also be in competition, racing in a 30-lap affair paying $250 to win and $35 to start. Rear Wheel Drive and Front Wheel Drive cars will race together and may run on any tire/wheel combination. There is no weight limit and wings/sail panels are allowed along with any body style.
Engine, rear end and chassis requirements will go by the competitors home track rules, which the competitors are encouraged to bring with them to the speedway.
As has become recent tradition, K&B Catering will have the pit area hopping with their famous Pit Rib Dinner, which is a can’t miss!
General admission gates open at 11AM for the Turkey Bowl with tickets being just $10 for ages 12 and up while children under 12 are always free at Black Rock Speedway. Pit gates swing open at 10AM with pit admission being set at $35. Hot laps will kick off at 12PM with Scott Hixson’s first green flag waving at 1PM Sharp!
