Yates County Speedway Results for 8/22/14
Dale Welty picked up his first career crate sportsman feature win on Friday night. James Kreidler was back in victory lane as he picked up the Street Stock feature win. Brad Sites notched his first win of the season at the speedway in the IMCA Modified feature. Darryl Ruggles picked up a hard fought win in the 305 Sprint car feature, while Brian Knowles claimed the Late Model feature. Chris Mashewske was the four cylinder feature winner while Allison Teed won the Bandit feature.
Lance Irwin and Dale Welty brought the Sportsman feature to the green flag, where Welty grabbed the initial lead. Irwin then slid back in to second until Fran Hilton soon took the position.
Point’s leader Casey Pavlick wasted no time racing in to the top 3 as he took over the third spot, and soon raced by Hilton to take second. Meanwhile, Brady Fultz began working through the field from his 8th starting spot.
Welty continued to set the pace as he maintained the lead running the inside of the speedway while Pavlick held a close second. Chris Fisher comfortably maintained the third spot, with Hilton and Ross Vleck completing the top 5 on lap 15.
As the race continued, Fultz soon found the high side where he raced in to the top 5 with his sights set on the top runners. Pavlick remained in second on the back bumper of the Welty 123 machine, while Fultz soon took over position three.
In the closing laps Welty opened was able to open up a slight advantage as Pavlick and Fultz raced hard for the second spot. Welty then went on for the win, Pavlick, Fultz, Fisher, and Vleck completed the top 5. It was Welty’s 75th career win at the speedway with all of the others coming in full fendered cars.
James Kreidler led wire to wire en route for his second win of the season in the Street Stock 20 lap feature. Kreidler took the lead from his outside front row starting spot and soon opened up a large advantage.
Rich Sharpsteen and Jake Karlnoski then challenged for the second spot with Jeremy Potrzebowski soon joining the mix. By the midpoint of the race Potrzebowski had moved in to second and soon challenged Kreidler for the lead.
As Kreidler maintained the lead on the outside, Potrzebowski continued to challenge on the bottom. As the race continued, Krediler proved to be the faster car as he held on to pick up his second win of the year. Potrzebowski, Gene Balmer, Chuck Winslow, and Kreg Crooker completed the top 5.
The IMCA Modifieds again put on another good race as multiple drivers led laps in the event. Brad Smith jumped out to the early advantage as he pulled away from the field. Rich Karlnoski began working through the field and eventually took over the lead on lap 8. Karlnoski led until a weight began to fall from his car sending him to the pits. Smith then reclaimed the lead until Brad Sites moved up on lap 14 to take the spot. Sites led the remaining laps enroute to his first win of the year at the track.
Chris Mashewske dominated as he picked up his second consecutive feature win in the 4 Cylinders. Allison Teed again picked up the feature win in the Bandit division. Darryl Ruggles held on for a hard fought win over John Preston. Brian Knowles was back in victory lane in the late model feature.
