Results from August 1st
Chris Silvers found the Yates County victory lane for the first time in his career on Friday. Silvers led all 25 laps en route to the victory. Roger Kerrick returned to victory lane in the Street Stock feature after a 20 plus year hiatus. Eddie Sites picked up his first IMCA Modified win of the season at the speedway. In the Late Models, Brian Knowles returned to victory lane. Scott Bradley won a thrilling four cylinder feature; while Allison Teed remained undefeated in the bandits.
Chris Silvers and Eric Bell brought the Sportsman 25 lap feature to the green flag, where Silvers immediately jumped out to the lead. Bell fell back to second, however just a couple car lengths back. By lap 5, the action was heating up throughout the top five as Chris Fisher, Ross Vleck, and Casey Pavlick all raced hard for position.
The first caution flag flew on lap 6 as Lance Irwin slowed out of turn four. The top five saw Silvers, Bell, Fisher, Vleck, and Pavlick. As the race picked back up, it was again Vleck, Fisher, and Pavlick all fighting hard for position.
On lap 13, the good run for Bell came to an end as a broken shock would hinder his night. Fisher then inherited second while Pavlick ran third, Fran Hilton moved into fourth and Josh Keesey rounded out the top 5.
While the raced continued, Silvers again opened up nearly a half straightaway advantage over Fisher. Brady Fultz began working up through the pack in the later stages of the feature from his 9th starting spot. Fultz cracked the top 5 with just ten laps remaining as soon set his sights on the top runners. Fultz worked the high side and soon got by Pavlick and Hilton to join the top 3.
On the 23rd circuit, Fultz then got by Fisher for second and began to reel in race leader Silvers. The big lead for Silvers however proved to be enough as he held on to score his first career Yates County victory. Fultz, Fisher, Pavlick, and Hilton completed the top 5.
In the Street Stock 20 lap feature, Roger Kerrick returned to victory lane after a hiatus of over 20 years. The win for Kerrick came as he led all 20 laps of the event. Jake Karlnoski challenged Kerrick for most of the feature, as did Nate Daggett. Daggett, Karlnoski, Dave Matwiejow, and Carl Cleveland completed the top 5.
Eddie Sites won a thrilling IMCA Modified feature, for his first victory of the season at the speedway. Eddie and his brother Brad Sites put on a great race along with Rich Karlnoski, and Keith Lamphere throughout the 20 lap event. Sites held on for the win while Lamphere, Brad Sites, Karlnoski, and Nicole Spalding rounded out the top 5.
Brian Knowles was victorious again in the Late Model 20 lap feature. Knowles also led every lap of the event. Another great race was displayed in the 4 Cylinder 20 lap feature as a turn four pass on the final lap found Scott Bradley the victor over Chris Mashewske. The Bandit feature again went to Allison Teed as her undefeated streak is still in tact.
The next event on the calendar will be one of the biggest events of the year as it will be the 7th Annualy MRO Celebrity Drivers Night. A number of celebrity drivers will be in attendance signing autographs and racing as well. The Patriot Sprint car tour makes its annual stop at the speedway, and will be joined by a full night of features only for the other divisions. The Sportsman will be competing in a Survivor Race.
