FULTZ, KREIDLER, KARLNOSKI, RUGGLES, DAVIS, SMART, TEED ALL WINNERS ON FRIDAY
Brady Fultz took home top honors in the 602 Sportsman feature while James Kreidler notched his first career Street Stock feature win. Rich Karlnoski, Bryce Davis, Darryl Ruggles, Jayson Smart and Allison Teed were also victorious on Friday night at Yates County Speedway.
Phil Yaw and Eric Bell brought the Sportsman feature to the green flag where it was Yaw jumping out to the early race lead. In the opening stages of the race, Yaw pulled away from the pack as he led the first 7 laps. On lap 8 of the 25 lap feature, Josh Keesey raced up from his 9th place starting spot and was able to take the lead by the completion of the eight circuit. Meanwhile, eventual winner Brady Fultz was able to move up to the second spot and began racing with Keesey for the lead. As the race continued, Keesey was able to show the way running the bottom of the speedway as he held off the challenges of Fultz. Fultz continued to run the outside of the speedway and was able to make the pass for the lead stick for good on lap 19. With 5 laps to go the top 5 saw Fultz the leader over Keesey, Yaw, Brent Ayers, and Loren Lincoln. The leaders began to approach slower traffic in the closing laps and with 2 to go contact took place between Fultz and Keesey. Unfortunately the good run for Keesey was cut short as he spun the car in turn 4 with two laps to go. Fultz was able to hold on for his first win of the season over Yaw, Ayers, Lincoln, and Fran Hilton completing the top 5.
In the Greg’s Auto Body Street Stock feature, James Kreidler picked up his first win of the season after getting by Rich Sharpsteen for the lead. The two cars battles for numerous laps in what turned out to be a great race. After Kreidler got by for the lead, Sharpsteen tried everything he had to get back by. The win for Kreidler was good for a $500 payday. Sharpsteen held on for second, Chuck Winslow finished third, fourth went to Nate Daggett, and Cory Costa rounded out the top 5.
In the IMCA feature, Rich Karlnoski collected win number two on the season. Jared Spalding looked to be the car to beat as he led for nearly half of the race using the inside of the speedway. Karlnoski meanwhile had found the outside to his liking as got by Spalding on lap 13. In the closing 7 lap, the two drivers swapped the lead on numerous occasions however none of the moves were able to stick for Spalding. Karlnoski got the win, Keith Lamphere just edged out Spalding for second, third went to Spalding, fourth went to Bruce Tinsley, and Scott Sebring completed the top 5.
Bryce Davis won in convincing fashion in the Late Model feature in just his first start of the year at the speedway. Davis was able to pull away from the field and lead 16 out of the 20 laps. Darryl Ruggles notched yet another win on the 2014 campaign as he also won in convincing fashion in the 305 Sprint Car feature. In the 4 Cylinder feature, Jayson Smart notched his first win of the season as he drove away from the field en route to the victory. Allison Teed again continued her dominance in the 4 Cylinder Bandit division as she remained undefeated on the season with the win Friday night.
The next event on the schedule at the Yates County Speedway is coming up on July 4th, as a full night of racing will take place along with a massive $10,000 firework show. For more information check us out online at www.yatescountyspeedway.com
