NASCAR NIGHT AT OUTLAW SPEEDWAY FINDS MATT SHEPPARD WINNING THE 5TH ANNUAL TED SIRI MEMORIAL FOR THE MODIFIEDS AND THE $4,321.18 PAYDAY.
Mason Zeigler claims $10,000 to win United Late Model Series feature. Mikey Smith takes $1,000 CRSA 305 Sprint A Main. Blake Parsons victorious in Crate Sportsman and Glenn Whritenour wins Street Stocks.
Story by Kenny Shupp Jr.
(Dundee, NY) For the early part of the 2026 season, Matt Sheppard has been a picture of consistency wherever he has raced knocking down top three podium finishes every race event.
However, for the Savannah, NY transplant finding victory lane has not happened, something uncommon for Super Matt but that would all change on this night as Sheppard would assume control of the thirty-lap 5th Annual Ted Siri Memorial on a lap five re-start and from there go on to victory at Outlaw Speedway.
Local Dundee, NY native Brady Fultz along with another second-generation pilot from Elmira, Jeff Daugherty would bring the field to the opening green of their feature with Daugherty getting the jump and leading the first five circuits until the first of four caution flags would wave.
On the re-start, Daugherty was joined on the front row by Sheppard who had lined up third on the opening grid and when the green flag dropped Sheppard shot into the lead which he would not relinquish.
It seems like every week thus far at Outlaw, 2025 Modified Track Champion, Michael Maresca has had very poor opening night draws and re-draws and this night would be no exception as the Baldwinsville speedster would line up eleventh on the start, but wasted little time in moving through traffic and taking advantage of yellow flag slowdowns on laps ten and fifteen he was able to get to the second spot and begin to put pressure on Sheppard for the race lead.
As the pair began to distance themselves from the rest of the field a spirited battle was brewing between Daugherty who was running third after leading the first five circuits as well as veteran drivers Pat Ward and Doctor Danny Johsnon.
For The Doctor of Modified Racing, Johnson also had a poor starting position missing the re-draw and starting the event in spot thirteen, but he was able to bust through traffic and get into the top five.
Lap after lap Daugherty, Ward and Johnson waged a torrid battle for third as Maresca kept up the pressure on Sheppard for the win.
The final caution on lap twenty-two would bunch the field one last time, however Sheppard had everyone’s number and cruised to his third Ted Siri Memorial backing up his triumphs in 2022 and 2023 as he walked off with the Siri Memorial Big Check for $4,321.18.
Maresca was able to hold on for the runner-up slot with Daugherty capping off a great night by completing the podium after finally being able to dispose of Pat Ward late in the event,
Ward did go on to nail fourth after starting the event in that slot while Will Shields very quietly went about his business, raced within the lead pack throughout the entire distance and rounded out the top five after lining up sixth on the opening grid.
The United Late Model Series made their first of two appearances at the historic Yates County oval with nineteen of the Monsters of the Midway checking in for their 50 laps, $10,000 to win Ted Siri Memorial.
In time trialing, young gun Brock Pinkerous of Ellenville, NY was able to set quick time and start on the pole for his qualifying heat which we would win quite easily.
For the 2024 RUSH Crate Late Model Series Champion it was a home coming of sorts for the man nicknamed BAM BAM, however Dave Hess Jr. of Waterford, Pa. was the odds-on favorite to pick up his third win in a row at Outlaw Speedway.
After qualifying was completed and the field was set it would be Chalk Hill, Pa. speedster, Mason Zeigler along with Ken Shaffer of DuBois leading the charge of the nineteen starters to the opening green.
After a very hard-fought battle throughout the entire half century grind, including some late race caution flags including incidents between the race leaders, it was Mason Zeigler coming away with the $10,000 victory and in doing so he backed up last week’s win at the season opening ULMS event in Pittsburg.
Zeigler was followed across the line by Jon Lee of Summerville, Pa with former IMCA Modified great and Franklinville, NY resident, Greg Oaks having one of his best Outlaw Speedway performances in many Late Model attempts as he rounded the top three podium finishers after starting eleventh on the opening grid.
Brian Bernheisel of Jonestown, Pa. began the feature in position eight and advanced to fourth at the double checkered flags with Seth Zacharias of Vestal, NY completing the top five coming from starting spot thirteen.
The only RUSH Crate Late Model in the field was that of Rickie Loucks a Woodhull Raceway regular and with the lighter than expected field of Super Lates, Loucks was able to make the 50 lap feature and finish a respectable twelfth after starting seventeenth on the opening grid and for his Stan Krise led team it would be a very good payday and added seat time at a venue that they do not normally frequent.

ULMS will be back at Outlaw for another $10,000 to win show as part of the MacMillan Memorial on September 18.
Joining the 950 HP Super Lates and the Northeast Modifieds was the CRSA 305M Sprints who after several rained out events thus far in 2026 were finally able to catch a break and get a show into the books and they did not disappoint as thirty-one of the Wonderful Winged Creations rolled into Outlaw Speedway for the $1,000 to win 5th Annual Ted Siri Memorial.
After four qualifying heat events, a B Main along with the traditional Dash the feature field was set with Nick Webb and Mikey Smith bringing the twenty-five-car starting field to the opening green.
Smith was able to hold off a relentless charge throughout the caution free twenty-five lap feature from former Series Champion, Jordan Hutton having to settle for second at the finish after claiming the most recently held ESS 360 Sprint Feature at Outlaw for his first ESS triumph.
2025 CRSA Champion, Zach Sobotka started eighth on the opening grid and advanced forward to complete the podium. A good start in defense of last year’s title.
Rounding the top five were Dillon Paddock who advanced a couple spots from sixth to fourth with Johnny Smith dropping one spot from fourth at the start to fifth at the finish.
The CRSA Series has a top-notch PR Department led by Marty Czakala and to get a complete overview of the entire CRSA program at Outlaw Speedway including all heat, B-Main and Dash finishes as well as side bar stories and photos simply log on at www.crsasprints.com.
CRSA has two more events scheduled for Outlaw with those coming on July 31 as part of the 11th Annual Summer Nationals and they wrap up their 2026 season on Hoag Memorial Weekend in late October.
Knapp and Schlappi Lumber of Dundee and Penn Yan 602 Crate Sportsman were on the card for this year’s Siri Memorial and once again the division produced a solid field of twenty-seven machines for the night of action with twenty-three taking the opening green for their twenty-five-lap feature.
The machines of Guild, Leach, Guererri and two-time 2026 Outlaw feature winner, Garrett Willott were all scheduled to start but had problems and were relegated to DNS status.
By the luck of the redraw, Justin Leichti of Newark and Clearfield, Pa resident Todd English would bring the field to green followed by Woodhull veteran Donnie Lawson and Dundee’s Andrew Clark who made up the second starting row.
Although he did not win the 2025 Knapp and Schlappi Sportsman Track Championship, Blake Parsons of Beaver Dams was able to lead the regular season feature win column with two feature victories and is always a force to be reckoned with whenever the 602 Crate’s take to the Fast 4/10 of a Mile Clay Oval in Dundee.
Parsons was able to quickly advance from his inside row four starting position and work his way through traffic and once in the lead would never look back in picking up win one on the 2026 season which also happened to be the first official point paying event of the season.
Try as he might, pole position starter, Liechti was not able to fend off Parsons as he had to settle for second with former class point runner-up, Daryl Krebs advancing from ninth to complete the top three finishers.
Lindley, NY’s Josh Nobriga put on yet another consistent drive to move from fifth to finish fourth with Dundee’s Brent Ayers re-drawing the worst possible starting spot beginning in the twelfth slot and completing the top five.
Finally, there were the Swarthout Recycling Street Stocks where a dozen beautiful full fender creations checked in the night of competition.
Corning’s Brett Crawford along with Chemung veteran and the 2024 Street Stock Track Champion, Gene Sharpsteen would lead the field into turn one on the opening lap of their twenty-lap feature go.
Class heavyweights Jimmy Grant and multi time Outlaw Track Champ including the 2025 title, Glenn Whritenour would start in row two and they wasted little time getting to the point and from there it was another classic battle between the pair with Whritenour able to clear Grant as they would go on to finish one/two similar to many feature finishes 2025 as they completely dominated the action last season with 2026 looking to be a repeat performance thus far.
For GW it was win number one on the campaign as his victory comes on the first point paying night of “26”.
Grant entered the campaign with two feature victories with Willy Easling nailing his first ever in class earlier in the season.
Finishing third and completing the podium was Freeville’s Jerry Lobdell Jr. who came from sixth on the start.
Pole sitter, Crawford and Joe Giardina of Beaver Dams completed the top five.
Congratulations to all competitors.
Up next at Outlaw Speedway it will be the first Regular FAST 5* Event of 2026 featuring the Modifieds, Crate Sportsman, Street Stocks as well as the Hobby Stocks, Mini Stocks and Youth Bandits as the latter three divisions will have their season opening point event of the season.
Leland Harris of Lindley, NY will be the host sponsor for the May 15 show which will also feature School Bus Races.

Outlaw Speedway Tidd Bits.
111 machines representing the five classes of competition for the night jammed into the Outlaw Speedway Pit Area requiring several qualifying events which were run off in a timely manner along with the five features.
A nice crowd of hearty fans crowded into the Main Grandstand Seating Area, mostly clad in winter wear including Carhart’s and snowmobile attire, as the temperatures once again dropped into the low 40’s and upper 30’s as the night wore on.
However, the colder than normal May temperatures did not deter from impressive three and four wide action right across the board on the Fast 4/10 of a mile.
Under the circumstances with what seems like endless rain the track held up extremely well with just a couple spots showing some character. A real tribute to Outlaw Speedway’s track preparation crew who once again provided a beautiful fast racing surface.
For the Modified, Sportsman and Street Stocks it was the first official point night of the year and next week the handicap will begin for those three divisions.
Hobby and Mini Stocks will still do a pill draw and re-draw, however their first point show will commence next Friday.
Danny Kerrick, who has already won a pair of feature events at Outlaw this year in pre-point season competition will return to defend his NAPA HS title as will Zach Daugherty in the MR Grafix Mini Stocks.
