OPEN PRACTICE DATE SET FOR OUTLAW SPEEDWAY ON SATURDAY, MARCH 28, 2026
Story by Kenny Shupp Jr.
(Dundee, NY) With the 2025 Awards Banquet in the rear-view mirror, the Outlaw Speedway can now focus its attention on the next coming event which will be the traditional Open Practice, which is scheduled for Saturday, March 28, 2026.
Weather you plan to compete at Outlaw during the 2026 season or not, you will be welcomed to the test and tune session in preparation for the start of the “26” year of competition.
“Anything with wheels that is a race car is welcome to take advantage of our Open Practice, stated track owner, Tyler Siri. This facility dries very quickly so if we get some decent weather in March, we should be in real good shape leading into practice and our season opener the following weekend.”
For Siri it will begin his 11th year as the owner/promoter of the historic Yates County New York venue and the schedule of events touts a multitude of unique events including touring groups like the ESS 360-winged sprints, CRSA 305 Sprints, the Short Track Super Series and a pair of United Late Model Series shows.
The month of April will be stacked with nothing but special’s including the Lucas Nationals, Cal Lane Memorial Spring Nationals and the Dave Guererri Memorial prior to the first point paying show of the 2026 season set for Friday, May 2026.
Siri has once again set his schedule up to accommodate three weekends of extraordinary events in April in hopes of giving his racers a chance to get a jump start on the year.
“Every year that I have owned this track I have tried to schedule April as the month of dedicated events in hopes of catching a break on the weather and getting some high paying events into the books. The past couple of years April weather has not been cooperative, but we are in hopes that 2026 will be different.”
Outlaw Speedway and its surrounding grounds, including pit area parking, are built to drain and that makes an enormous difference particularly after the severe weather that Upstate New York has experienced throughout most of the past several months.
“When we put the track to bed for the winter it is all ready to go when the frost comes out of the ground. The crew just has to polish up a few things, and we will be all set to go.” That once again to track owner, Tyler Siri.
Current plans call for an afternoon test and tune on Saturday, March 28 with a tentative 2:00 PM time that the track will open for practice.
Those teams that plan on attending are encouraged to keep a watchful eye on the tracks Facebook for gate and start times should the schedule be adjusted.
“We are going to give everyone plenty of time for practice, stated Siri. We will also have more practice as part of the Lucas Oil Nationals Front Row Dash Night on Friday, April 3 as well as Friday, April 10 as part of the Dave Guererri Memorial Front Row Dash Night consequently there will be plenty of track time for competitors to shake down their iron for the season.”
