DOUBLE POINT NIGHT AT OUTLAW SPEEDWAY TO DETERMINE ALL 2025 TRACK CHAMPIONS

Story by Kenny Shupp Jr.

(Dundee, NY) It is hard to imagine that after what seemed like an eternity of rained out events early in the 2025 season at the Outlaw Speedway, the Final Point Battles will be determined on Friday, August 29, 2025.

“Once we got past the rain early on, the season just zipped along, stated Outlaw Speedway owner/promoter, Tyler Siri as he prepared his track for the decisive point show of 2025 prior to heading into post season high dollar events. The drivers and teams have worked extremely hard to put themselves in a position to have a chance at their respective class Track Championships.  The August 29 event will be thrilling for everyone, that is for sure.”

Each season when Siri prepares his yearly schedule, he finishes the regular point season with a Double Point Night which adds plenty of drama and forces all the teams that are in contention to step up their game.

Heading into the Double Point Finale there are no clear-cut champions in any of the 5 Adult Divisions or the Youth Class and every point leader in each class will have to come prepared and bring their absolute best to be crowned the 2025 Outlaw Speedway Track Champion in their class.

Rather than the traditional 60 points which is up for grabs each night for the feature winner’s this week it doubles to 120 and that can be a game changer particularly in a class where only a few scant points separates the top two or three.

Entering the August 29 show there are no less than a dozen Crate Sportsman drivers that mathematically have a chance at walking away with the $2,000 check for winning the title, the points are that tight as no one driver has dominated the action.

Other divisions are not as widespread with the top three to five in class having a chance at the title.

“It will be down to crunch time that is for sure.  Evey year the fans are on the edge of their seats and when the checkered flag waves it is a scramble to do the math and see who the track champion in each division is.  We have seen a lot of different scenarios over the years with the Double Point Finale’s where someone has had a great season and leads the points only to have a bad night on Double Point Night and loose the title.  In some of these classes where only a few points separate the top three or four a driver can win the finale and have the others in front of him have an off night and jump right over the pack and win the title.  The possibilities are endless.”

For a complete look at the current up to date point standings log on at www.outlawspeedway.com.  There you will find a concise breakdown of the points on a week-by-week basis.

The Friendly Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram Modifieds will find Mike Maresca leading the point battle heading into the August 29 event just a few markers ahead of Bobby Varin with 2024 Outlaw Speedway Modified Track Champion, Alex Payne in third place.

Jeff Daugherty sits in fourth with The Hurricane Steve Paine in fifth with both having a mathematical chance of winning the title, however they will need a lot of help from the top three.

If Maresca or Varin win the Championship it will be their first or should Payne win the title it will back up last year’s Modified Track Championship.

The Modified Track Championship pays a whomping $10,000 to the winner.

Chris Fisher looks to pick-up his second Knapp and Schlappi Lumber Crate Sportsman title in the past three years having claimed the 2023 Championship however he will have to have a near perfect night to maintain a slim point advantage in a division where a dozen drivers have a mathematical chance of winning the point title.

Fisher has four track titles overall in the Crate Sportsman Division and another triumph in 2025 would put him in a league of his own.

The 2025 Sportsman Track Champ will claim $2,000.

Glenn Whritenour has won twice as many feature events as his number one challenger in the Swarthout Recycling Street Stock Division.  Whritenour enters the point finale with 8 wins to 4 victory lane trips for Jimmy Grant, but that does not reflect on the point battle as Grant has a real chance of claiming his first Outlaw Speedway Title should he win again, and Whritenour have an off night.  Should both GW and Grant have poor showings last year’s champion, Gene Sharpsteen is lurking in third and could jump over both and defend his 2024 title.

Willy Easling has been a picture of consistency all season and sits in fourth place with Joe Giardina a distant fourth and both drivers still have a chance at the title albeit a slim opportunity.

Whoever walks away with the Street Stock title will pick up a check for $2,000.

Danny Kerrick leads Addison, Corning, Hornell, Wellsville NAPA Hobby Stock points heading into August 29.  After concentrating on a full-time campaign at Outlaw in 2025 the third generation Stanley, NY competitor has a slim point lead over many times Outlaw Hobby Stock Champion, Mr. Smooth, Marc Minutolo of Phelps.

Jared Hill and Jesse Balance cannot be counted out either as they sit in third and fourth place.  It has come down to those four and it will be interesting to see who can claim the title as you have a well-seasoned Minutolo taking on a trio of tough competitors in Kerrick, Hill and Balance with Kerrick holding the point advantage going in.

The driver who wins the Hobby Stock Title will pick up a handsome $2,000 at the Awards Banquet.

With last season’s Winner’s Circle Deli Mini Stock Track Champion, Willy Easling concentrating on Street Stock competition in 2025 it has opened the flood gates to a multitude of drivers all looking to pick up this year’s title.

A pair of former champions in Mike Stone and Jayson Smart will be chasing an Elmira High School Senior, Zach Daugherty as he has a bit of breathing room entering the point finale.

What is unique about Daugherty is that he is a true Rookie in this division after claiming last year’s Fritz Masonry Youth Class convincingly.

Daugherty is a lock to claim the Mini Stock Rookie of the Year Title and if he can hold on to win the overall Track Championship it would be a rare task indeed.

Thus far the pressure has not bothered Daugherty, a second-generation pilot, and it will be interesting to see how Stone and Smart approach the August 29 Double Point Championship Event which will pay the overall Track Champion $2,000 for claiming the title.

Kolton DeCamp has a perfect record in place heading into the final Double Point Event in the Fritz Masonry Youth Bandits.

6 for 6 which is very impressive, however he has not locked up the title as there are a few others that have competed in each event and have acquired enough points to be in contention for the title.

Kassitie Clugstone, Danica Hall and Connor Crane all have perfect attendance and all three are within the 120-point parameter, but if DeCamp just shows up and has any kind of a decent showing he will clutch that highly sought after Fritz Masonry Youth Bandit Championship Trophy

Camping is always free at Outlaw and fans are encouraged to bring their rigs and spend the night after the exciting race action has concluded.

The track also has a pair of beer concession stands.  The Turn 4 Tavern is in the Grandstand Seating Area with the Outlaw Speedway Saloon pit side offering a stunning view of the Fast 4/10 of a Mile Oval from the top deck observation area.

Both concessions offer a huge assortment of iced cold beer.
