Behind The Mic TNT
Hey Race Fans and Outlaw Gang. Your favorite Track Announcer coming at you from behind the mic. As I write this at 3:30AM...I simply cannot sleep as I am too stoked to relax. Thursday Night Thunder is one of my personal favorite nights of racing at 82 Main. Whenever the Short Track Super Series is in the house, with some of the best dirt modified racers on the planet taking care of business there is one thing that can be guaranteed...the racing will be phenomenal.
Let's harken back to 2023 when three of the four features that were run were won on last lap passes in Turns 1 and 2. Those three races were won by Outlaw regulars like Cory Costa, Shane Wolf Jr, and Willy Easling. Costa and Wolf went on to win their respective class Track Championships. The fourth feature was won by invader Kenny People's Jr in American Racer Sportsman action.
The racing surface at Outlaw has been stellar. Smooth, and racy has become the signature at 82 Main and whatever magic and mojo that The BossMan and his crew have been using has worked to perfection.
I personally enjoy the banter between fans as they espouse their favorites and why they think that their driver will win. Of course anytime that the trio of Stewart Friesen, Matt Sheppard, and Mat Williamson are signed in they are favorites to win. But this is Outlaw bro. Five different winners in five points races in 2025 so far. Ten different winners in 2025. Nothing is guaranteed at Outlaw, and there is a plethora of regulars that simply cannot be overlooked and leading that list is the youngest Modified Track Champion ever at Outlaw...Alex Payne. Brady Fultz was the Hot Lap Hero at last year's STSS show and has been showing flashes of brilliance and speed so far in 2025. Siri Racing has been running at the front. Tommy Collins is ready to breakout. Will Shields and Jeff Daugherty lead the group of young guns who have prior victories. Veterans like Danny Johnson and Steve Paine can never be counted out. Points leader Mike Maresca is enjoying an awesome season.
The Sportsman roster at Outlaw is as deep as Seneca Lake (the deepest of all of the FLX) and they provide some of the best racing on any card that they are booked at. The full fendered Street Stocks boast some of the top shoes in the region and will not disappoint. The 4 Cylinders always put on a great show, especially when they turnout in big numbers.
I look forward to working with STSS voice Jeff Ahlum. Jeff is a consumate pro who always adds an air of being legit to anything that he does. I remember a couple of years ago when a couple of trolls were doing their thing online and Jeff simply said, "You know what you're doing Spazman. Just keep having fun" and it has stuck with me to this very moment. Jeff knows how to do it right. When I had to miss the 2022 STSS race due to being home with Mrs Spazman who had undergone surgery...Jeff gave me a shoutout on the broadcast. Most guys would not, but Jeff did.
While the show will be livestreamed, nothing beats being in the stands sucking up fumes, feeling the Earth shake, and having your bones rattled by 900HP big/small block power. There is nowhere that I would rather be than at the track, in the Tower of Power with a headset strapped on the dome calling the action. Thursday Night Thunder will not disappoint, and I cannot wait to be your voice.
