OUTLAW SPEEDWAY LOSES YET ANOTHER NIGHT OF RACING TO RAIN

Story by Kenny Shupp Jr.

(Dundee, NY) All outdoor activities have taken a hard hit thus far in 2025.  Camping, boating, school sports, golf, lake activities, farming and especially Motorsports have taken it on the chin far too many times this season.

What seems like an eternity of rain and cold temperatures have been the story line since early April and with many northeast race venues barely getting one or two shows into the books, promoters are getting ready to flip the calendar to June and most have little to show for it.

The Outlaw Speedway in Dundee, NY is no exception as tenth year track owner/promoter, Tyler Siri has seen his early season aggressive schedule barely get off the ground with one washout right after another and Friday, May 23, 2025 was no exception as once again he had to pull the plug on what was to have been the Annual Gary Montgomery Memorial Night featuring the only appearance of 2025 for the high profile RUSH Crate Late Model Touring Series.

Outlaw lost two shows in the first two weeks in April as well as a scheduled practice date on the last Friday in April.  May has been equally as bad with two straight washouts the first two Friday’s and now the track has lost their big Memorial Day Weekend kick-off event.  In the eight scheduled events thus far at the historic Yates County Facility there are only two races in the books, and it is getting frustrating for fans and drivers alike.

“Once these shows are lost it is tough to make them up especially when touring groups are involved like RUSH, ESS and CRSA.  Not impossible but challenging trying to find a night that works for both the track and the touring group.  All we can do is hope that the weather patterns change and we start getting much better weekend weather from here on out.  We still have three full months of an aggressive schedule remaining plus our special events in September and October so there is still a long way to go.  That is according to Outlaw Speedway’s Tyler Siri.

“This place is built to manage a lot of water.  The racing surface, pit and grandstand parking areas are built to drain, consequently that is not an issue, but when it rains on race day, that is another story.”  That once again according to Siri.

With the loss of the Friday, May 23 Montgomery Memorial the track will now shift its attention to the next event on Friday, May 30 as Siri and company will pull the curtain on the month with a Regular FAST 5* Show as Firefighters and EMT personnel will be admitted free with proper identification.
