As we continue our slow roll looking back at the 67th Season of racing at 82 Main, in our first installment we talked about the release of the epic 2024 schedule.

The outlook for the upcoming racing season at Outlaw was off the charts, and anticipation was enormous coming out of the Syracuse Motorsports Expo, and Finger Lakes SpeedWorld Mall Show. Everyone was talking about the monster shows that The Bossman had inked...especially the news that High Limit Racing was going to invade Outlaw.

It is customary standard operational procedure for Outlaw to host a pre-season practice to give racers and their teams an opportunity to shake down their rides, test their equipment, and shake off the Winter rust. All kinds of cars from vintage, to modifieds, to late models, and everything in between attended the open Saturday session, and with there being just a week until the lid-lifting Lucas Oil Nationals...teams, fans, and personnel alike were buzzing with excitement.

Everyone was looking forward to the changes that Tyler Siri and the Outlaw crew were making to the track.

Making the decision to open a race track for competition during April in the Finger Lakes can be a hit or miss proposition, due to the fickle mistress known as Mother Nature. The joke is that only in NYS can you go from the heater, to the AC, back to the heater and experience all four seasons in the same day.

Wet is one thing. Cold is one thing. But when wet AND cold come together, it spells doom for a racing program, and Outlaw was forced to cancel the season opening weekend.

Mother Nature had already claimed a scheduled practice session, and she now set her sharpened claws into the Lucas Oil Nationals.

The BossMan set up another open practice on April 7th with a more favorable forecast, which was highly attended and gave everyone a tentative glimpse of how awesome the table top racing surface was going to be in 2024.

Everyone turned their collective attention to the 2nd Cal Lane Memorial Spring Nationals on April 12th and 13th...but it was all for naught as Mother Nature dropped downpour after downpour on Dundee all week, once again claiming another victim for the second straight year, and setting the tone for what has become a despised pattern that has cost Outlaw Speedway eight nights of racing thus far in 2024.
