2023 Modified Points Rundown

As we prepare to close the lid on what was an awesome 2023 season, we will take a look back at each division and their Top Ten headed into 2023 Awards Banquet
The Friendly Dodge Chrysler Jeep RAM Modifieds will start things off. The title chase came down to the final race with just one point separating Cory Costa and Danny Johnson headed into Championship Night. Eight racers had a mathematical chance to win the title in a points battle that was one for ages.
Champion: Cory Costa******
Costa had an average finish of 3.7 headed into the final points night en route to winning his first Modified title at not only Outlaw...but anywhere. Costa won his first Short Track Super Series feature in the first of three straight wins in a dominant mid-Summer performance. His second place finish on title night secured a nine point title win with six feature wins and 10 points podium finishes. Costa pockets a cool $10,000 as Champion.
2nd: Danny Johnson**
DJ ended the season with two wins and eight points podiums. Johnson's wins both came on nights where we honored the services of our Veterans and Military.
3rd: Steve Paine
The Hurricane finishing outside of the Top Five in 2023 was a rarity. In full points shows he did it just three times, but they were three out of the last four points races. Finished with four points podiums.
4th: Jeff Daugherty***
JD won the season opening Lucas Oil Nationals, on the first night that the All Stars Sprints were in the house, and on Championship Night. Two of his three points podiums were wins.
5th: Brady Fultz*
Fultz ended the dominant run of Costa by claiming the bounty that put the brakes on the streak that Costa was on on July 14. Fultz finished with three points podiums.
6th: Will Shields*
Shields notched his first ever modified win during the running of the Gary Montgomery Memorial on May 26th. The young gun finished with two points podiums and picked up a heat win during the Hoag Memorial.
7th: Tyler Siri
The Bossman had an up-n-down season with a couple of second place points finishes, a heat win during the Ted Siri Memorial, and four total heat checkers.
8th: Tommy Collins Jr
In his first year of full time modified competition, Collins is the Rookie Of The Year. Collins finished with two points podiums, and four total heat wins.
9th: Jim LaRock
The closest LaRock got to a dub is a third place on All Star Night which was his only points podium.
10th: Tommy Paine
Tommy is the only Top Ten racer without a podium, but he had a heat win along with his brother on Gene Dupuy Night.
