OUTLAW SPEEDWAY CUTS BACK ON THE NUMBER OF WEEKLY CLASSES FOR 2024

Track is going from 7 Classes to a Super 5 Show.  Youth Bandit Division “feature only” format is still a go.

Story by Kenny Shupp Jr.

(Dundee, NY) An early Christmas Gift for 2024 came to many drivers and fans that support the Outlaw Speedway.

“After listening to the people that race with us weekly at Outlaw Speedway, I have decided to change how we do business at this track beginning in 2024. Starting this Spring when we get into the Regular Weekly Point Season, I will be shifting gears and going from a Super 7 Program to a Super 5 Show by eliminating both the Rookie Sportsman and Hoosier Tire Sportsman Divisions from the weekly card.”  That statement from Outlaw Speedway owner/promoter, Tyler Siri.

With Outlaw racing primarily on Friday nights with a few mid -week programs, Siri felt it necessary to stick with the tracks 7:00 pm start time which allows folks that work till 4:30 or 5:00 pm ample time to get to the track.

“I needed to make a change and unfortunately the two classes that I am dropping are both open wheeled Modified cars.   However, in both cases the drivers can simply run with the Sunrise Insulation American Racer Tire Sportsman Division which still gives them the opportunity to keep racing using their existing equipment.  Most all the Hoosier Tire shod teams have American Racer Tires already in their arsenal, so it is not like they must go out and spend money on new tires.”

The Youth Bandit Division will remain on the card, but the kids will race early in the program.

“When possible, I want to run the Bandits first, explained Siri.  Before the opening night heats are staged, however if the track is not ready for the kids, I will fit them in between or right after heat action as they run just a feature only.  When all the heats and Bandit feature is completed, we slide right into the five features for all the regular adult classes.”

After early 2023 racing surface issues caused primarily by an open winter with little or no frost in the ground at the famed Yates County oval, Siri and his track preparation crew rolled up their sleeves and went to work.

“We had a lot of rain early on this spring and with an abnormally milder than usually winter which produced little of no frost it all raised havoc with the track surface.  We put a ton of effort into totally revamping how we prep the track during the week and on race day.  It paid big dividends with the outcome a much smoother, faster, and wider racing surface.  From the mid part of the season on, the drivers were treated to a dependable surface where they could move around on the track from bottom to top.”

With a better handle of how the track is groomed, it has provided for a quicker program with far fewer caution flags and little or no preparation prior to feature events.

Siri then concluded by saying, “A combination of a track surface that is consistent all night long with little or no mid-race preparation coupled with fewer classes means a show that is completed in a timely manner allowing fans and teams to exit the facility at a more acceptable hour.”

Siri is also pleased to release the Regular Weekly Class Feature Winners Pay plus the 2024 Track Champions Winners share of the point fund.
