MIKE JACKSON MEMORIAL EVENT READY TO ROLL OFF AT OUTLAW SPEEDWAY ON FRIDAY, MAY 12, 2023
In addition to the $2219 to win American Racer Sportsman feature there will be a complete show of all the weekly divisions.
Story by Kenny Shupp Jr.
(Dundee, NY). Former Modified, Crate Sportsman, 305 Sprint competitor and one- time Black Block Speedway Promoter, Mike Jackson will once again be honored at the famed Outlaw Speedway on Friday night, May 12, 2023.
Jackson, who spent most of his career wheeling Northeast Modifieds and Crate Sportsman also had a stint in a winged 305 Sprint prior to his death on December 29, 2020 due to cancer.
“Mike was a heck of a driver in every division he cinched the belts. He absolutely lived for racing. That is all he ever wanted to do, and Mike was also a promoter of this very track just a year or so before I purchased it from Dean Hoag 8 years ago. It’s a real honor for me to once again have a Mike Jackson Tribute Night here at Outlaw and we will put up a minimum of $2219 (Jackson’s longtime car number, 19) for which ever driver can win the Sportsman Feature event.” That according to Outlaw Speedway owner/promoter, Tyler Siri.
Jackson’s daughter, Hannah has spent countless time and effort acquiring additional money and contingencies for the May 12 Mike Jackson Memorial event including a huge Corn Hole Tournament at the March 2023 Arnot Mall Car Show.
A minimum of $2219 is a lot of money for a 602 Crate Sportsman feature win and with amount of loot it will entice other drivers to make the haul to Outlaw as well as other competitors in the DIRTcar Hoosier Tire Division that races weekly at Outlaw to bolt on the American Racer rubber or run their Hoosier Tire brand.
