ROY SILVERS MEMORIAL KICKS OFF POINT SEASON AT OUTLAW SPEEDWAY ON APRIL 21, 2023
Buckley’s Tire and Brake presents the first Super7 Show marking year 66 at the popular Yates County Oval.
Story by Kenny Shupp Jr.
(Dundee, NY) After two consecutive weekends of practice and the Lucas Oil Nationals to open the 2023 season, Outlaw Speedway owner/promoter, Tyler Siri will now shift his focus to the regular point season at the Fast 4/10 of a Mile clay oval in Dundee, NY.
With summer like conditions during the opening weeks in April, Outlaw was able to successfully put the Lucas Oil Nationals into the books with the event being a non-point show.
“Now everyone will get serious about the 2023 season as the point battles begin this week, stated Siri. I am paying track champions record amounts this season and it has created a lot of conversation among the competitors particularly in the Modified Division where the champion will receive a check for $10,000, double what I have paid in the past.”
Eight classes will be on the card for the Roy Silvers Memorial on April 21 with the Friendly Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram Modifieds as the headliner. A pair of 602 Crate Sportsman Divisions will also be in action including the Sunrise Insulation American Racer Tire and the Knapp and Schlappi Lumber Company DIRTcar Hoosier Tire Sportsman Classes along with the Stan’s No Tubes Street Stocks. The Addison, Corning, Hornell and Wellsville NAPA Hobby Stocks, the Winner’s Circle Deli Mini Stocks, the upstart Swarthout Recycling Rookie Sportsman and the Fritz Masonry Bandits complete the lineup.
Gate times for both pit and grandstand entry as well as ticket pricing will be posted on Facebook prior to the event.
A resolute father, successful Horseheads, NY businessperson and dedicated race fan, Roy Silvers passed away due to complications after contracting COVID in 2020 and the night is named in his memory.
“Roy was a great person. He was always here cheering on his son, Chris when he raced in the Sportsman Division. He supported this place through his business, Silvers Used Auto Sales right up till the time he passed away. He is greatly missed, and it is a privilege for me to have a night in his memory.” That according to track owner, Tyler Siri.
Buckley’s Tire and Brake in Horseheads, NY will be onboard to host the event and their representatives will enjoy the night of action from the confines of the VIP tower high atop the front straight grandstand seating area.
Jody Buckley, owner of Buckley’s Tire and Brake is a racer himself and he knows full well the importance of marketing through Motorsports, having been a competitor on asphalt for many years.
