(Dundee, NY) – One division that turned out in big numbers this weekend was the Four Cylinder division, as they had races on Friday and Saturday night paying $1,000 and $1,500 to win respectively.
Elmira, NY’s Ajay Potrzebowski climbed aboard his daughter Kayley’s No. 72x and laid the lumber to the rest of the field, sweeping both nights of the Outlaw Fall Nationals.
Potrzebowski started in the tenth position on Friday night and slowly and methodically worked his way to the front of the field, using the low lane to get around the ‘Fast Four-Tenths-Mile.’
The white and green No. 72x was also fitted with a sail panel, just above the right rear quarter panel. The rules for the weekend had a handful of basic rules, allowing for teams to really engineer different engine and ‘aero’ packages that they felt would give them an advantage.
The sail panel helped Potrzebowski keep his car glued to the bottom of the speedway and maintain his speed. Most of his competitors that wanted to run the bottom had to tip-toe to keep control of their car, scrubbing off speed.
Potrzebowski made his way past race leader JJ Kreidler, who is always a fierce competitor in Four Cylinder open shows in his No. 79k. It would be a party for the rear wheel drive Mustangs, as it was all Ford power that filled out the top five finishing positions.
In the end, it was Potrzebowski nailing down the win on night one over Kreidler, Woodhull Raceway regulars Chris Woodard and Ron Dailey Jr. and 2016 Outlaw track champion Erica Bell rounding out the top five.
On night two, Potrzebowski made things a bit easier for his team, drawing the pole for the thirty-lap event that paid a top prize of $1,500. With the higher first place prize up for grabs, nineteen Four Cylinders checked in at sign in Saturday afternoon.
Just as they were on Friday night, Potrzebowski was strong in the No. 72x machine. He would once again be the dominant force in winning Saturday night’s event, to make it a clean sweep on the weekend.
Chris Leone did the front wheel drive contingent proud, being the first front wheel drive across the line in second. JJ Kreidler took podium finishes in both Outlaw Fall National races in third, while Woodhull track champion Chris Woodard finished fourth and Josh Forantz rounding out the top five.
