(DUNDEE N.Y.)- Street Stock driver Quinn Sutherland is far from new to the world of dirt track racing. He was introduced to racing by his dad and uncle, and started driving his own Street Stock at 17 years old.
The 44-year-old driver out of Dundee, NY just got back into racing after taking a few years off. He partnered up with Jim Schuyler and is racing for him this season. Sutherland was asked in a recent interview how much fun he’s having racing for Jim Schuyler this season? “We’ve known Jim for my whole life, so it’s been 40 years of knowing him, and it’s a lot of fun,” he explained.
Before getting back into racing and behind the wheel of his #57J Street Stock, Sutherland spent time racing Super Stocks. He explained the difference between racing in his Super Stock days and racing now, “I don’t thing I take it as seriously, I’m having a lot more fun now than I did then.”
Friday June 22nd, was a more meaningful night of racing than usual for Sutherland, with the Jeff Searles Memorial Night at Outlaw Speedway.
“Racing is what Jeff liked, we went to a bunch of tracks, and every time we went somewhere everybody knew him, so that was his night.” Sutherland explained when asked what the Memorial Night meant to him.
During the week, Sutherland enjoys spending time with his family camping and attending his kids’ baseball games. He says his motivation to keep racing each week is simply boredom; racing gives him something to do each week and something to look forward to.
