(Dundee, NY) – Tyler Siri and crew spent a long night Thursday and into Friday getting their power plant fixed with their engine builder, Billy The Kid Performance.  It had been several weeks of poor luck that was a mixed bag of mechanical issues and an engine, but that all changed with a dominating victory Friday night.

Siri shared the front row with son, Jordan, with the elder Siri showing the fast way around.  His crew hauled an engine back to the engine builder earlier in the week, only to get back to Dundee to reassemble the car late Friday morning.  Siri showed just how powerful that move was for the team.

While Siri pulled away early, Danny Johnson was marching his way from his fifteenth place starting spot to fifth by lap eighteen.  “The Doctor” would then move up to the fourth spot on lap twenty, as Jordan Siri caught and challenged Tyler for the lead.

Jordan dipped the nose underneath the No. 5* in lap traffic, but an untimely yellow nixed Jordan’s efforts in his Superior Crushing No. 28.  Brady Fultz’ No. 70 slowed in turn two, bringing out the first caution of the race on lap twenty-three.

While under the yellow flag, Jordan Siri pulled his ride to the infield as his car lost oil pressure.  This brought Penn Yan’s Derrick Podsiadlo to the back bumper of Siri on the restart, with Johnson now up to third.

Siri pulled away on the restart and Johnson went to work on Podsiadlo.  Although Johnson appeared quicker, Podsiadlo had the ponies to beat Johnson to the bottom lane in turn one- the preferred line.

A lap twenty-eight caution, for Gary Tomkins who went up in smoke in his Coar-owned No. 84, was incredibly unlucky for Johnson who had gotten by Podsiadlo for the runner-up spot.  However, the field had not completed that lap, putting Johnson back to third on the restart going back to the last completed lap.

Siri once again pulled away on the restart and went essentially unchallenged for the two-lap dash to the finish over Podsiadlo, Johnson, Alan Johnson and Steve Paine.

“I really have to thank the guys at Billy the Kid Performance and my guys for getting this motor back together and getting it back in the car for tonight’s show.  We got the motor back this morning and they had it in the car by 3 o’clock,” said Siri.

“Yeah, we’ve had the worst luck in the last three weeks,” he continued.  “It’s frustrating because you’ve been fast but you just haven’t had any luck.  I have to say thanks to the crew because this is awesome.”

Zach Ziegenhagen and Brent Ayers led the field to the green flag in the Crate Sportsman feature with Ayers jumping out to the early lead.  Not far behind Ayers, right from the drop of the green flag, was AJ Lloyd who was looking to get back on track in the points hunt with his second win of the season.

Stacy Jackson had a bad break in turns three and four on lap five as something came apart on the No. 22J, sending him hard right toward the top of the track with title contender Dale Welty sliding to a stop with Jackson.

Once back underway, Lloyd took to the whip trying to run down Ayers for the lead.  Lloyd would work and work the bottom lane until he was finally able to get by and be scored the leader on lap number thirteen.  Once out in front, it was only a matter of who would fill out the rest of the top five, as Lloyd was gone.

Lloyd would have to survive a late race restart as the caution came out with only about a quarter of a lap to go for Lloyd.  That gave Ayers one final chance on the restart with a one-lap dash, but it would not be enough.

Lloyd raced to his second feature win of the season over Ayers, new point leader Tommy Collins Jr., Chris Silvers and Loren Lincoln the top five.

“I didn’t want to see that last caution, I can tell you that,” said Lloyd.  Fortunately it worked out for us and we were able to get the win.  We needed that tonight.”

Jason Knowles made it two feature wins in a row as he scored not only the heat race win, but turned around and won the twenty-lap feature event for the RUSH Crate Late Models.  The Addison, NY driver has found the magic that he showed early on in the season, which allowed him to get out front with a comfortable lead in the point race.

“We have had quite a few races last weekend and here tonight, I have to thank my crew for getting us here,” said Knowles.

“The Jet” would lead his brother “Pork Chop” Brian Knowles to the double-checkered flag for the win.  They would beat Bob Buono and Adam Depuy to the line at the finish.

For the third week in a row, Jayson Smart would lead lap number one in his K&B Catering No. 8 in the twenty-lap Creekside Entertainment Street Stock division.  His lead would not last as long as it did the week before, because point leader Chuck Winslow was a man on a mission.

That mission was to reassert himself as the man to beat in the division and he would do just that.  Winslow dominated the middle portion of the race, but a caution with about a handful of laps to go, gave defending track champion Jared Hill a glimmer of hope.

Hill made a move and pushed the back bumper of Winslow into the first turn on the restart, but Winslow was true on the bottom.  Hill’s chance slipped away, as Winslow locked the Precision Racing Fabrication No. 61 down in the middle lane and narrowly pulled away each lap to the checkered flag.  Hill held on for second over Nate Daggett, Dennis Cummings and Jayson Smart who had a career-best fifth place finish.

“The situation was- do you run low where there was a few bumps or do you run through the middle where it was smooth,” said Winslow.  “Just go for that win and the points will still be the points.  It’s still a lot of fun to win these races.”

The Four Cylinder division saw a great race end with JJ Kreidler again taking Rich Sharpsteen’s Flyin’ X to victory lane.  Codie Baker, who is in his second race vehicle of the season, was leading with less than ten laps to go.

Baker was able to maintain the lead using the middle to outside lanes, while Kreidler was trying to float by on the bottom lane.  With just two laps remaining, Kreidler found an opening on the outside of turn three and made it a side-by-side battle for the lead.

Kreidler would carry the momentum down the front straightaway and claim the lead.  Once out in front, Kreidler took to the top lane and would force Baker to try and make a move on the low side.  Baker would try, but would not succeed with Kreidler taking the win over Baker.

Bruce Kinner drove his best race of the summer to drive through the field for a fine third place finish, ending his drought of bad luck behind the wheel of the No. 12.  Nate Freeland made a rare Outlaw Speedway start to finish in the fourth position.  Ray Hyer finished in the fifth spot for Brian Grant Motorsports.

“I knew I had to get a run on him down the backstretch and then move up because he (Baker) was really quick up there,” said Kreidler in Outlaw Victory Lane.

‘Burnin’ Bacon’ Jordan Bacon extended his winning streak to five races in a row with a win Friday in the Winners Circle Deli Bandit division.  Bacon had to fend off battles with Austin Labar and Joey Clark to get the win, as Clark made heavy contact with the turn four wall early in the event.

“Dad and I were talking last night about ways to drive the car differently, trying to throw it in the corners more,” said Bacon.  “A couple times I was aimed for that yuke tire, man that scared me.”

This week at Outlaw Speedway is a big one as the Patriot Sprint Tour returns for round number two of 2016 for the traveling 360 sprint car organization.  They also join Michael McDowell’s MRO Night, an annual charity event for Motor Racing Outreach that serves the traveling racing community that comes to Watkins Glen this weekend.  More information will be forthcoming on that great event.
