(DUNDEE, N.Y.) – To say that Friday night’s action didn’t go off as planned would be a gross understatement. However, Outlaw Speedway owner Tyler Siri wishes to offer a sincere apology for Friday night’s late night and only seeing four features take the green flag. He also will be offering half price admission of just $6 this coming Friday night to make up for a poor experience at the totally revamped facility in Dundee, NY.
“I take 100% responsibility for the events that took place and the three features that have to be rescheduled,” said Siri when contacted Saturday morning. “We had the largest crowd that this track has ever seen as well as a car count so big we couldn’t fit cars in the pits or overflow areas. At the end of the day, we flat out dropped the ball and I want to offer my sincerest apology to everyone in attendance.”
The night started off late as track crews were determined to work as much moisture into the speedway as possible, to eliminate the dust issues that was seen last Thursday night during the ‘Thursday Night Thunder’ season opener. A Southern wind blowing that dust directly into the grandstands did not help matters much either.
“We just crossed the line with how much water the track could take and once we crossed that line it was going to be a big game of catch up to get it back. I am making a promise to everyone that this will never happen again. It’s inexcusable for us to start the show two hours late when we had that many cars and that many people ready to take in the show.”
The track preparation blunder wasn’t the only problem Siri has vowed to correct before next Friday night’s event. He also mentioned that Outlaw Speedway will be investing in more towing equipment to get crashes cleaned off the track faster than they were able to on Friday.
“We quickly realized that the amount of towing equipment we had on site was not nearly enough. I will make it a priority this week to either obtain more equipment or get more help in here so that when we have a three or four car accident, we’re not waiting for the tow trucks to drop cars off and return to continue the cleanup.”
Siri is committed to an effort to make up for Friday night’s late night and will offer admission to the grandstands this coming Friday night for $6. Fans won’t need to bring ticket stubs back. Every person in the grandstands, whether they attended Friday’s event or not, will be half price through the gate.
The Street Stocks, Late Models and Four Cylinder features will be made up over the course of the next two weeks. More information on those makeup dates will be forthcoming on the website and social media accounts.
General admission gates open Friday night at 5PM and will be $6 for adults 13 and up. Children 12 and under are always FREE at Outlaw Speedway.
