For Immediate Release – May 11th, 2016
(DUNDEE, N.Y.) – Outlaw Speedway has a new race night event, and it’s all about the kids.
Pam Dinkins of Watkins Glen, NY introduced Outlaw to the idea of a Kids Club, to be held every Friday before racing begins. The objective of Kids Club is to give kids at the track something to do while they wait, instead of sitting up in the grand stands bored or getting themselves into trouble.
From 5:30 to 6:30p.m. Pam will have a table set up in the picnic table area with a different kid-friendly craft each week, welcoming all kids aged 1-12. The crafts will coordinate with a theme of the night.
This coming Thursday, May 12th Kids Club will be set up with a craft corresponding with Little League Baseball. Kids will decorate a baseball themed picture frame to keep, and place their own photo inside.
On opening night, the Kids Club planted flowers in red solo cups for Earth Day, and took them home to watch them grow. There are already plans for many upcoming nights, including an autograph night, where each kid will be given a book with empty pages that they can have drivers sign. SPCA night, where kids can decorate and color a mini pet carrier, and take home an animal puppet in it, as well as a belated Mother’s Day night, Father’s Day, and the 4th of July.
Parents can be assured that their kids will be safe, as Pam states she would never let a child leave the craft area without a parent or sibling picking them up. If parents are comfortable with it, she walks the group of kids along the bottom of the grand stands when they are finished with their crafts, so they can run up to their parents’ seats when they see them.
This isn’t the first time coordinating a Kids Club for Pam, she has experience with this event at many other tracks in the area, including Canandaigua Motorsports Park and at Super Dirt Week in Syracuse. Through this program she has gotten to know the kids and their families; some kids come running right over to her table when they get through the gate.
“I love kids, my husband always jokes that I should have gone to school to be a teacher because of how much I do like kids.” Pam said when expressing her excitement about the club.
Kids Club will bring something new and exciting for Outlaw’s younger fans and bring relief for those parents who struggle with their restless kids before racing starts, as well as give kids something to look forward to, and keep them coming back each week.
Thursday Night Thunder is going to make history at Outlaw Speedway tomorrow night as Tyler Siri’s newly purchased track will finally be able to kick off the 2016 season after three Friday nights filled with rain.
Thursday’s race will be the first points show for all weekly divisions as the Friendly Dodge and Ford Big Block/Small Block Modifieds, Crate Sportsman, Crate Late Models, IMCA Modifieds, Creekside Entertainment Street Stocks and Winners Circle Deli Bandits will take to the track for an electric show on the Outlaw Speedway clay.
