(DUNDEE, N.Y.) - Outlaw Speedway opened their gates Friday night, April 22nd ready to impress their fans and drivers with the updates and improvements to the facility, and they did just that.
Although the scheduled races were cancelled due to inclement weather, drivers and fans had nothing but positive things to say about the experience. We spent time with fans and participants in the pits as well as the grandstand area to get their first impressions when they arrived for the Outlaw Spring Nationals.
“You guys weren’t kidding when you said you expected a packed house. I cannot believe all the cars out in the parking lot tonight.” Adam DelGrosso said.
The packed parking lot spoke for itself with how many racing fans Outlaw drew in, and the drivers in the pits were thrilled to see the amount of support they had from fans in the grand stands.
Street Stock defending champion Jared Hill stated “if the cars in the pits and the fans in the stands didn’t get everybody pumped up, nothing will.”
Those who are loyal to Outlaw Speedway were just as impressed as those who haven’t been there in a long time.
Shane Andrews, who was in attendance to call the action for the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints, expressed his excitement on the upgrades, “I haven’t been here in 15 years, but this place looks just awesome. They’ve done a great job.”
Not only were those at the track ecstatic about the improvements and the atmosphere, the response from fans on Outlaw’s Facebook page was overwhelming with positive thoughts and comments; specifically mentioning the professionalism and friendliness of the staff, cleanliness, and overall excitement for the upcoming season.
Race fans' next opportunity to take in the improvements and excitement comes this Friday as the speedway honors the local American Legion with a night in honor of their service and dedication to our country and community. American Legion dignitaries will be on hand for the festivities and a portion of Friday night's 50/50 sales will be donated to the Dundee American Legion.
The Friendly Dodge and Ford Big Block/Small Block Modifieds will kick off its weekly $2,000-to-win and $200-to-start events for 2016. They will be joined by the Crate Sportsman, Crate Late Models, IMCA Modifieds, Creekside Entertainment Street Stocks, Four Cylinders and Winners Circle Deli Bandits.
