(Dundee, NY) – The Dutch Hoag Memorial saw eight great divisions make up the racing card on Sunday, with Tommy Collins, Keith Lamphere, Chris Woodard, Tatter Kysor and Buck Mills Jr. all graced Victory Lane at night’s end.

Collins put in an impressive performance in the Crate Sportsman division, in a re-skinned No. 20H.  The 2016 Outlaw Speedway regular was fast right off the trailer on Sunday afternoon, which allowed Collins to start near the front for the thirty-lap open tire feature event.

Collins battled early and often with Rob Bussey, Karl Comfort’s No. 10 and Eric Williams in his No. 21x.  Bussey would encounter problems that dropped him from the top five, in an event that saw numerous caution flags and several multi-car accidents that drew the red flag for proper cleanup.

One car on the move was 2016 Woodhull track champion Chris Daugherty, who was making a rare Outlaw Speedway start.  Daugherty appeared to need a longer green flag run, as his car got faster and faster as the laps clicked off with ten to go.

But nearing the end of the event, Collins began to pull away and put the victory out of reach for his competition, snagging the Dutch Hoag Memorial 30 for the Crate Sportsman.  Comfort, Daugherty, Williams and Dale Welty rounded out the top five.

In the IMCA Modifieds, Keith Lamphere and Rick Karlnoski renewed a battle that they had fought before- a victory on the four-tenths-mile Outlaw Speedway.  Karlnoski made a slick move to go from fourth to first to take the lead, while battling in the top five.

While it looked like the multi-decade veteran was going to nail down the victory, Lamphere was making an incredible charge from a lap one spin back to the lead.  Lamphere took the lead with ten laps still remaining, as his Lamphere Truck Parts No. 98k was THAT good.

Lamphere scored the $1,000 win, Karlnoski had to settle for second, while Rich Michael Jr. completed the podium.  Brad Smith was solidly in the top five all night long, but needed an adjustment to try and crack the podium.  I-88 regular Gary Roberts invaded for a solid top five finish.

The $1,000-to-win Four Cylinder feature event saw one of the many thrilling finishes of the night, as 2016 Woodhull track champion Chris Woodard made a last lap pass for the win.

Front Wheel Drive competitor Chris Leone had made several Outlaw Speedway starts this season and used those notes to his advantage to lead the event late in the going.  JJ Kreidler battled with Leone, along with Woodard and ‘Wild Bill’ Weller throughout the twenty-lap event.

Woodard finally got by Kreidler on a restart late in the race and set his sights on getting by Leone for the win.  He probably would have rather not had to wait until the last lap to do so, but it sure set up an exciting last lap for the fans looking on.

Woodard took the Harris Logging No. 97 to the outside lane in turn one as the white flag flew, and never let off the gas until he had cleared Leone entering turn three for the lead.  He would win the drag race to the checkered flag, putting an exclamation point on his team’s season in 2016.

Tatter Kysor also used the outside lane to take the lead away from Mickey Ciliberto entering turn one, late in the going to win the 600cc Micro Sprint feature.  Kysor ran in the top five late in the race, and stalked Ciliberto for the lead before pouncing on an opportunity with less than five laps to go.

Kysor was the fastest car on the track, using the cushion all the way around the ‘Fast Four-Tenths-Mile.’  It was the second time a Kysor had taken a Dutch Hoag Memorial 20 victory in the 600 Micro event.  Ciliberto, Nick Groff, Matt Smith and lady racer Cheyenna Ling completed the top five.

Five Pure Stocks made the trip to Outlaw Speedway for the Dutch Hoag Memorial, with only four cars able to start the feature due to a heat race accident.  In the end, Buck Mills Jr. outdueled Mitch Hurlbert to get the victory in the fifteen-lap feature event.  Mills was thrilled to win the special trophy and oversized check over Dave Decker, Hurlbert, Marcus Springer and Kevin Skelley who could not start.
