This week at Black Rock Speedway marks the first leg of a stretch of races that will see 4 events in 3 weeks at the ‘Fast Four-Tenths-Mile’.  Friday night’s action will feature the 305 Sprint Cars, who will race for $750 to win and $100 to start along with all other weekly racing divisions.

Longtime supporter of local motorsports, Knapp & Schlappi Lumber Company, will make their return to the marketing fold at Black Rock Speedway to sponsor the night’s racing activity.  Knapp & Schlappi has locations in Penn Yan, NY and Dundee, NY and is a trusted source for building supply needs, tools, gardening and they can even satisfy your last minute camping and towing supply needs.

Knapp & Schlappi was the vision of Wilfred Knapp and Pete Schlappi in 1956 when they worked in a saw mill in the Crystal Valley area on State Route 230.  In 1959, the Knapp & Schlappi Lumber Company was born and the original pole barns were constructed in the town of Barrington.  In 1974, K&S purchased the Keuka Lumber Company on Lake St in Penn Yan where the flagship store is located.  Today, Knapp & Schlappi is owned and operated by former Black Rock Speedway racer Steve Perry.

“We are very excited to have Steve and the folks from Knapp & Schlappi back on board in 2015,” said first-year promoter Mike Jackson.

“Steve was one of several sponsors we initially spoke to about coming back to Black Rock.  Their support as a local business is what makes our area great.”

Many top competitors from the Canandaigua Motorsports Park 305 Sprint ranks plan to attend ‘The Rock’ for Friday’s special event.  Both Daryl and Alysha Ruggles will be competition along with Nick Cooper, Lee Sanders and Ed Kelly.
