MOTHER NATURE ONCE AGAIN KO’S OUTLAW SPEEDWAY PROGRAM

Story by Kenny Shupp Jr.

(Dundee, NY). For the third time in the early part of the 2021 race season, the Outlaw Speedway has lost an event due to rain.

After back-to-back rainouts on April 30 and May 7, 2021, the May 28 show had to be cancelled do to a not so favorable forecast of rain and cold temperatures.

“We had been watching the weather all week and it was not looking good for Friday and nothing changed much.  With cold temperatures coupled with persistent rain throughout the day we decided to pull the plug early and save everyone unnecessary travel.”  That according to track owner, Tyler Siri.

On the schedule for the night was the Annual Gary Montgomery Memorial for the Sweeney Performance RUSH Late Model Series.

“We were anticipating a turnout of well over thirty of the best Crate Late Model drivers in the northeast, stated Siri.  Many of these teams have long distances of travel coming from several different states.  We decided it was best to cancel early and not have teams leaving their shops only to arrive here and get wet.”

In addition to losing the full show of RUSH Late Models, the regularly scheduled events including the Friendly Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram Modifieds in addition to the Sunrise Insulation American Racer Tire Sportsman and the Speed Connection DIRTcar Hoosier Tire Sportsman were lost. The Stan’s No Tubes Street Stocks, the NAPA Hobby Stocks and the Winner’s Circle Deli Mini Stocks were also scheduled to compete.  The Lane’s Yamaha 360 Sprints were to have the night off.

The Gary Montgomery Memorial RUSH Late Model event at Outlaw Speedway will not be made up as both entities have aggressive schedules for the remainder of the 2021 season making a reschedule of the event nearly impossible.   Both Vicki Emig of the RUSH Late Model Series and Tyler Siri of Outlaw Speedway both agreed that a make up in 2021 was not do able.

In addition, the remainder of the Sunrise Insulation American Racer Tire feature beginning on lap thirteen remains to be completed plus a full make-up of the Stan’s No Tubes Street Stocks.  It is anticipated both will be run off on June 4.

In the Mighty Friendly Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram Modified Division, second generation pilot, Kyle Coffey holds a very slim point advantage over Bobby Varin and Steve Paine.  It is yet to be seen if Varin can complete the entire 2021 season at Outlaw Speedway in the Tyler Siri owned number twenty-eight machine as business commitments may find the veteran driver having to forgo Friday night action at the historic Yates County oval.  For the top trio of racers, Coffey has youth on his side coupled with a veteran father/crew chief that knows his stuff.  However, it is hard to beat experience which both Varin and Paine have plenty of it.

A complete list of all gate and start times plus ticket admission prices for the June 4, Arthur and Cynthia MacMillan Super 7 Show will be posted at www.facebook.com/OutlawSpeedwayLLC/
