LUCAS OIL EMPIRE SUPER SPRINTS TO RETURN TO BLACK ROCK SPEEDWAY ON FRIDAY JULY 18TH

DUNDEE, NY…Many exciting new announcements are starting to come out after Dan Harpell was named the new Promoter of Black Rock Speedway. The latest will make open wheel fans take notice as the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints will return to the Yates County oval on Friday, July 18th.

“It will be great to be back”, said Dean Reynolds from ESS. “Dan Harpell does a very good job track prepping. It’s going to be a great show and it works out well because we will be going to Bradford the following night so it now gives our drivers two shows that weekend, which will bring a strong field of cars”, he added.
This is the first big announcement since Harpell took over the speedway last week. “I know how much the fans here love the sprint cars and ESS will put on an excellent show”, said Harpell. “This is the first of many big announcements we will be making in the coming weeks. It’s going to be an exciting season”, he added.
This will be the first appearance of the popular winged warriors at Black Rock since the 2011 racing season. Defending champion Steve Poirier will lead the charge on an all out assault on the 4/10ths clay oval.

For one driver in particular it will be a homecoming. Penn Yan’s Lance Yonge cut his teeth in racing at Black Rock when it was known as Dundee Raceway Park. Yonge will bring the hometown fans in droves to see if he can take it to the front.

This will be the 64th ESS race contested at the Yates County oval. Mal Lane is on top of the all time winners list with six victories. The most recent driver to win an ESS show at Black Rock is Chuck Hebing, coming on July 8th, 2011. Hebing, known as the Cobra, always thrills the fans with his let it all hang out driving style. There have been 40 different winners in the previous 63 races contested at the track.

Mark your calendars now for the return of the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints to Black Rock Speedway on July 18th. Keep watching for more exciting news to come out in the next couple of weeks about the upcoming racing season. There will be some real eye openers.

Black Rock Speedway will begin with two practice sessions, which will take place on Friday, April 18th and Friday, April 25th. The new era begins on Friday, May 2nd with the grand opening under new Promoter Dan Harpell. The CRSA Sprint Cars will highlight a full night of racing featuring the 602 Crate Sportsman, BRP/Crate Late Models, IMCA Modifieds, Street Stocks, Four Cylinder Stocks, 602 Spirits and Youth Bandits.
